Day 8
Updated: Jul 24, 2020
Today we want to look at the final soil in the parable of the sower: the good soil.
The final soil that Jesus mentions is the good soil. Of the good soil, Jesus says, “those who hear the word, receive or accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.” (Mark 4:20) This is the soil that all of us want to be all of the time. Notice there is a progression in the good soil: hearing, receiving/accepting, and then bearing fruit. First, we have to hear the Word. If you do not hear the Word, it cannot bear fruit in your life. Next, we have to accept it. This looks like agreeing with it that it is true. Finally, it bears fruit in our character and how we live our life. Remember it is a seed, so it may take time for it to bear fruit and that is perfectly normal. Also, you will get varying amounts of fruitfulness in your life: 30, 60, and 100 fold. Do not be discouraged that your fruit in a certain area looks smaller than someone else’s fruit in that area. Be excited about whatever amounts of fruitfulness you get!
