Day 25

Updated: Jul 27, 2020

Another important truth that is a result of Jesus’ death for us that we need to get into our hearts is the fact that we have direct access to God Himself and we are always welcome.

Jesus’ blood paid for you and I to have direct access to God. Before Jesus, only one man, the high priest, once a year would be allowed directly into the presence of God. However, Hebrews 10:19-22 lays out that because of Jesus' blood and sacrifice for us, we have the ability to come before God in His presence with confidence and assurance. Jesus’ blood was enough to cleanse us forever and give us the ability to enjoy God forever. This is an amazing truth because it means that you do not have to go through someone else or anything else to get to God. You are not and do not have to be dependent upon someone else’s relationship with God. You can hear from Him yourself. You can be taught by Him. You can feel His presence. You can talk to Him. Your own soul can be satisfied in and with Him. This truly is amazing.

Not only do you have direct access to God, you are also always welcome to come to Him. There will never be a time or place that you are not allowed to come to Him. Jesus’ last words in Matthew 28:20 are that He is with us always even until the age. He is never going to leave. James 4:8 encourages us that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us. Jesus Himself said in John 6:37 that He would never turn aside any that came to Him. This means that no matter when, where, or how you feel you can come to and draw near to God. If you feel anxious, you have access to God. If you feel overwhelmed, you have access to God. If you feel tired, you have access to God. If you just sinned, you have access to God. This is the most wonderful news.

Today, you can be confident that at any moment, no matter where you are or how you feel, you have direct access to God and can draw near to Him. I encourage you to draw near through prayer, worship, and Bible reading at every moment.
