Day 14

Updated: Jul 24

The second benefit of reading the Bible is that your love for Jesus will increase and deepen. This follows directly from the first benefit. As you grow to know Him rightly, you will grow to love Him because that is what the only proper response to knowing Him. (Song of Songs 1:4) Love will look like affection for Him, longing for Him, devotion to Him, and obedience to Him. The first two benefits are tied together and are by far the most important ones. This is ultimately the goal: that we would know and love Him. Jesus said the first and greatest commandment was to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.(Matthew 22:37-38) If loving Him is the first and greatest priority He has for us, then loving Him should be our first and greatest priority as well. If these first two benefits were the only benefits of reading the Bible, then it would be totally worth it!
